Pallavi Foley (Accessory Members)

Creativity is synonymous with Pallavi, one of India’s leading jewellery designers, who is known for her couture and avant-garde jewellery pieces. This young and enthusiastic designer is internationally renowned for her many distinctive award winning jewellery pieces. She is based in Bangalore and her creative hive is a design studio, which is part of her exclusive boutique, situated at level-C at the Leela galleria, Leela Palace hotel, from where she retails precious and semi precious jewellery.
Very recently, she received the eminent award as “The Best Designer”, instituted by the South India Jewellery Show (SIJS-South India jewellery show) 2011, a prestigious business event for the gems and jewellery segment. She won the award for her innovative use of ideas and materials, original concepts in her body of jewellery design work, which appealed to the jury consisting of distinguished industry leaders.
Apart from having her own jewellery boutique, she also works as a design consultant where she designs for Indian and International jewellery brands.
Pallavi is simultaneously taking orders for her latest collections, working on new design ideas, travelling to trade fairs and spending time with her four-year-old daughter Nia, who loves to try the jewellery pieces at the boutique.
She graduated as an Accessory Designer from NIFT (The National Institute of Fashion Technology) New Delhi in 2000. Thereafter she designed jewellery for Tanishq for 9 and a half years. She has designed many collections for Tanishq and even won the NID Business World Design Award in 2004 in the category of ‘Best Accessory Design’, for a collection called Aamra, where she redefined and modernised the mango motif for the modern Indian woman. The Jury had called the collection, “The Best combination of industrial design and traditional crafts. It has a distinct Indian identity and is sophisticated.”
Pallavi’s foray into jewellery design is much like an artists’ journey, which is how she looks at jewellery design. Each Jewellery piece designed by her, has a story to tell and is beautiful, unique, bold, hip and dramatic.
Her profile speaks volumes in terms of quality of achievement. She has received numerous national and international design awards in jewellery design.
“Each of the pieces I design is thoroughly researched and has a story to tell,” adds Pallavi.
All her designs are captivating and the meanings behind each piece she designs, makes the designs enriching, enchanting and rejuvenating. Some of the most beautiful women have worn her designs.  The Miss India Universe Crown 2006 and 2007 that Pallavi designed for Tanishq while she was working for them.
One of her pieces is a necklace called “The Indian street”. The necklace very cleverly showcases the trend of using charms to tell a story. It is inspired from an Indian street and has a modern eclectic look to it.
Her most recent award winning piece, 3-space, won the second place in the Beads category of the 2010 International Saul Bell Award Competition.
Pallavi says “The form of the 3-space bead, is derived from my imagination; It is a result of endless sketching, to reach a result that I believe is unique, dramatic, bold and surprising.” She also calls it an unusual blend of geometry and poetry, where a single bead unit, is like a three dimensional modern sculpture.” She adds, “I enjoyed designing and challenging the very concepts of modern jewellery”.
Pallavi says, that jewellery design today is all about fashion, attitude and great craftsmanship. Jewellery designers today can pretty much look at anything for inspiration and craft truly unique products, since the buyers are ready for artistic, sculptural jewels, emerging from fresh inspirations.
Her enormous ability to think out of the box has created many a masterpiece! The boutique is replete with several expressions of the same.
