BRIJLATA GUPTA, Born and brought up in Hyderabad in a traditional family, Brijlata Gupta did her schooling from Rosary Convent. She married very young and soon had two lovely children. But this did not deter her from pursuing her burning desire to learn and give her life a direction. Soon she completed her graduation with unstinting support from family and friends.
Since her early years at school, she showed great interest and talent in Art and had a good sense of colour. Irrespective of her inherent talent to design and her keen eye for fabric, design, shapes and colours, she felt the need for a formal training in Fashion Design.
She joined NIFT for a one year full time course after 12 years of marriage and gave shape to her aesthetic urges of pursuing her dream - a career in design. She has participated in Fashion shows in NIFT Hyderabad's annual extravaganza "Spectrum", where she received accolades and appreciation for her work. This gave her further confidence to become an entrepreneur. In a way, converting her passion to her profession.
Though she started her profession in a humble way from home in 2002, armed with a diploma in fashion and clothing technology from the premier institute NIFT, she launched her own able "BRIJ" in 2004 carving a niche for her in the market. "BRIJ" is all about women's ethnic wear with International contemporary Silhouettes, colour being her forte, styling is largely casual.
Today, she is a name to reckon with in women's personalized formal wear. After retailing through /various designer stores all over India, she started her flag ship store in Hyderabad by name EKAMA, a platform for fresh and young talented upcoming Designers. Her range includes Salwar kurtas, Tunics, Saris and Ethnic Men's wear, Silver Jewellery, Ladies bags & much more.
