Art takes centre stage with design washed with painterly hues

Gaurav Jai Gupta to open LMIFW A/W 2020

New Delhi, February 27, 2020: The Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week in association with EbixCash Autumn Winter 2020 by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to take place from March 11-15, 2020, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi will see a grand opening on the first day by Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta. Known for his intellectual take on fashion he will pay tribute to French master, Yves Klein inspired by iconic hue Klein Blue, on March 11.

But that’s not all. To take this season’s theme #FashionWearsArt forward, each day at LMIFW AW’20 will have an art-inspired show. FDCI is also working with 12 Italian artists along-with Pearl Academy, where designer students will translate their artworks into a textile in collaboration with artisans, to be presented at an eclectic installation at the venue. We will witness its reverberations through art installations based on textiles by international and Indian designers.

“This year, the theme is fashion and its inextricable soulmate art, and their endearing relationship that has only ripened over the years, with Elsa Schiaparelli being one of the frontrunners with Salvador Dali and the memorable lobster dress. We hope to create many such pieces that will make it to the coveted list,” said FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi.
