New Delhi, 10 October 2016:As one of the world's leading global premium airlines, British Airways has always been synonymous with style and sophistication. The international carrier is now proud to announce its partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) for the much-awaited fashion showcase - India Fashion Week 2016 which begins from October 12 – October 16, 2016. British Airways will be the prime sponsors for one of the fashion shows to be held on October 12, 2016 at NSIC Grounds, New Delhi.

British Airways has a long standing history in India and has been flying for more than 90 years. The airline has always exhibited some of the most fashionable cabin crew uniforms that took to the skies since the 1940s. The uniforms over the past 80 years have been created by British Airways’ in-house design teams in collaboration with distinguished fashion designers such as Julien MacDonald, Paul Costello and Roland Klein, resonating with its brand value and cultural diversity through every era in fashion.

Moran Birger, British Airways' regional general manager, South Asia said, “We are extremely pleased to partner with FDCI for the India Fashion Week 2016. British Airways has always been associated with travelling in style – most recently with our elegant, new short-haul cabins and our new-look First cabin, created especially for the 787-9 aircraft. Our in-house design team is dedicated to give our customers the best travel experienceby bringing together balanced privacy, comfort, space and contemporary British design. We hope to continue our association with FDCI and welcome the fashion fraternity around the globe to choose from an extensive worldwide network.”

Speaking on the association,Mr. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said, "We are overjoyed to have British Airways on board this AIFW and are ready to fly with them. In this jet-set era, their commitment to STYLE in the AISLES is impressive.”

Continuing with its commitment to fashion, earlier this year, British Airways also compiled the Best Dressed Traveller list which celebrates the relationship between flying and fashion. The list, topped by Victoria Beckham, honoured some of today’s globe-trotting trendsetters, spanning the worlds of film, music and entertainment.

The Sherwani uniform for South Asian British Airways crew designed by eminent designer Rohit Bal in 2007 is simply reflective of how British Airways has evolved in all these years with respect to uniform fashion. From classic red-lined jacket and skirt, with optional flared trousers, brightly coloured ‘Aztec’ designed uniform to sarees replaced by kurta suit on Indian routes, British Airways’ cabin crew uniforms always exhibits on board flair, elegance, style and glamour.
