Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini showcase fantastical line

Sweet Reminiscences “A way of holding on to things you love, the things you are, things you never want to lose."

National, March 17, 2021: The Fashion Design Council of India and Lakme Fashion Week's joint phygital, seasonless fashion week, slated from March 16-21, 2021 saw Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini showcase their collection.

“We've been a strong proponent of this association and couldn't have been happier with the timing. This collaboration is unique and a much needed one for the fashion fraternity. The pandemic has affected the consumption pattern of luxury and this association will marry the best both organizations bring to the table. From brand positioning, expertise in production, communication to business of fashion will take a new enriched form due to this alliance. It's bonhomie of sorts. This is how the journey began between FDCI x Lakme X IMG over 20 years ago. Nostalgia of this long association coupled with tremendous experience of both organizations and renewed passions will definitely benefit design and talent. We at Geisha Designs wish FDCI & LFW all the very best for this unique edition of Fashion Week," expressed the designers Paras and Shalini.

About the label:

The Paras and Shalini label is sheer poetry written in the language of thread, bead and most innovative of patterns. It's a study in contradiction, which though they challenge the de-rigueur of mainstream fashion, make for great casual and evening wear. The Geisha label has little that's over-the-top, yet, it is precisely the stuff fashionable dreams are made of.

Flowers, art, heritage, mystique, life and nature's pride creates and inspires the romantic world of Geisha Designs. The designer duo, Shalini Jaikaria and Paras Bairoliya, re-create traditional Indian silhouettes with a distinctive old-world romantic look. Delicate embroidery, striking textures, vibrant motifs coupled with meticulous precision in detail make their creations beautiful inside out.

Launched in January, 2001, Geisha Designs personifies beauty with ultra feminine élan and beauty. The label currently retails in more than 100 high end stores across India, South East Asia, The Middle East, U.S.A, Europe and South Africa. For them designing a garment is not just about doodling a sketch on paper.

“There is something superficial and volatile about the seasonal and elusive whims of fashion which offends our sense of beauty. And therefore we persevere to sustain a feeling of enchantment in this world of fashion that never tires, never changes, never dies," feel the designer partners.
